Patricia A. Kirk, 63, of Port Charlotte, FL, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2017, at her residence.
Born on July 9, 1954, in Kingsport, TN, she had resided in Charlotte County for several years. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kyle Wagner; step-father, Fred Mayberry; and sister, Joyce Wagner.

KINGSPORT - Sherwood M. “Woody” Caldwell, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning January 11, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol.
The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday January 13, 2018 at Holy Mountain Baptist Church, 3121 Ashley Street, Kingsport, TN 37664. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm at the church with Pastor Jerry Musick, Pastor Tim Price officiating. Music will be provided by Sue Watts.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday January 14, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Malone officiating. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm to go into procession. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Holy Mountain Baptist Church.

Billy Joe Starnes
KINGSPORT - Billy Joe Starnes, age 76, passed away on January 5, 2018 at Wellmont Medical Center, Kingsport, Tn.
Bill graduated from Gate City High School in 1960. He grew up in the Marble Point Community west of Gate City, Va. He lived in the Colonial Heights community in recent years as well as his beloved Boone Lake home. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Starnes and Jeane W. Starnes of the Marble Point area. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Jean Bledsoe Starnes.
Bill loved to hunt and fish. He also loved his many pets including his dogs and cats. He retired from Tennessee Eastman after a long employment there.
Survivors include his only child, Wesley A. Starnes of Blountville, Tn; and his brother, Sam Starnes of Kingsport, Tn.
Bill suffered medical difficulties from a stroke for several years and resided at Holston Manor Nursing Home in Kingsport for the last 14 months. He also endured numerous surgical procedures over the last couple of years.
Bill preferred only a private family memorial service and he was a believer in the organ donor program.

KINGSPORT - Paulette Juneen Davis, age 59, of Kingsport, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her home in Kingsport, Tennessee.
She is survived by her Husband Michael Simpson Davis of Kingsport Tennessee; two sons, Jason Simpson Davis and his fiancée Bryn Hartgrove of Kingsport Tennessee and Ryan Zell Davis and his wife Laura Davis of Melbourne Florid; three grandchildren, Dylan James Davis and Ayden Blayke Davis of Boynton Beach Florida, and Emma Christine Davis of Melbourne Florida.

Douglas Alan Pendergrass
KINGSPORT - Douglas Alan Pendergrass, 56, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born July 27, 1961, in Kingsport.
Douglas was a kind, “happy go lucky “ guy who made friends very easily. He enjoyed working on cars and was a NASCAR, UT Vols and Tennessee Titans fan.
He retired in 2011, due to medical issues and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Walter Pendergrass; maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Eva McMurray Pendergrass; brother, Michael Pendergrass; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 pm on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Hobbie McCreary officiating.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation.

Pastor Joseph W. Byrd
Pastor Joseph W. Byrd went home to be with God January 12, 2018, at the Veterans Administration Hospital’s Community Life Center Hospice after a short illness.
Pastor Byrd was 94 years old. He was born August 3, 1923. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Master Sgt. in Reconnaissance. He worked for Tennessee Eastman after returning from military duty. After being called to preach, he left Tennessee Eastman to become the pastor of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. He faithfully pastored Bloomingdale Baptist Church for 61 years where he officiated in over 1,400 weddings, 1,500 civilian funerals and 2,200 military funerals. He received many awards for his service for God, community, and military.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen Barker Byrd; his parents, Rev. Allie R. and Gussie Frazier Byrd; brothers, Allie R. Byrd, Jr., and Donald Byrd; sister, Faye Porter; and grandson, Donnie Taylor.
Surviving are his children, Ronald Byrd and wife Donna; Stephen Byrd, Yvonne Douthat and husband Gene, Teresa Hoskins and husband Steve; grandchildren, Katy Craig, Steve Byrd, Angie Clark, Jennie Haney, Joey Taylor, Andy Hoskins, and Kayden Douthat; and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Byrd and Jim Byrd; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. The American Legion Post #3/265 will conduct full military honors. Deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers with music by Jerry Taylor.

ABINGDON, VA - Laquita J. Ladd Fugate, age 77, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 10, 1940, to the late Louis Clay Ladd and Virginia Pearl Smith Ladd. Laquita was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church and was a devoted housewife and mother.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Roy S. Fugate.
Laquita is survived by her son, Charlie Fugate, of the home; brother, Preston “Gene” Ladd and wife, Sandra, of Wilmington, N.C.; two nieces, Sherri L. Gray and husband John and Tracy Pryor and husband, Jim; nephew, Brian Ladd and wife, Monica; and five great nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Don Paxton and Dr. Carl Young officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, Va. where Arnold Ottinger, Bob Jones, Gary Wallace, Charles Lewis, George Hearl, and Roger Logan will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the funeral home prior to the service.

JONESVILLE, VA - Madeline Mae Burgner, 86, of Jonesville, VA passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA.
A native of Lee County, she was born November 13, 1931 to the late William and Lou Emma Nichols Bellamy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mozetta Woods, Cecil Bellamy and Pauly Johnson.
Madeline was a lifelong member at Jonesville First Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher in the Lee County School System. She was a life member of the National Education Association and the Virginia Education Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Burgner; sister, Ophelia Ely; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, in Lee Memorial Gardens with Rev. Trent Moody officiating.

GATE CITY, VA - Rhea E. Kern, age 89 of Gate City, VA passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Duffield, VA on May 24, 1928, and was the son of the late Floyd and Allie Kern. Other than his parents Rhea was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Kern Brewer; 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He attended Spears Ferry Church and was a veteran of the US Army. He loved hunting, fishing and reading his bible.
Mr. Kern is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nora Lane Kern; a daughter, Denise K. Hill (Robert); 1 grandson; a brother, Cecil Kern (Gladys) also several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Chalybeate Springs United Methodist Church in Scott County and was the bass singer for the church quartet for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Yuma Ruritan Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Blanche Bellamy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mildred C. On January 18, 2018, Nealie Ward Parker Stroupe, a longtime resident of Mt. Carmel will celebrate her 105th birthday at home with her family.
She is still at home with her children taking turns with her care and sitting. She Loves everyday she is blessed with and contributes her longevity to her faith and her love for the Lord.
Her children Don, Jim, Bill, Edna and Glenda are so thankful to still have their mother.
She has survived her husbands Carson Parker and Carl Stroupe, and her son Darrell Parker.

KINGSPORT - James Robert (Bob) Templeton, 61, of Kingsport, TN, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Bob was born in Kingsport, TN on September 18th, 1956. He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church. He was a Computer Analyst for many companies and was very proud of what he did. Bob loved to ride his Harley until he couldn't anymore and gave it away to a friend. He loved spending time with his best friend, Prissy his dog of 17 years. One of his greatest joys was to help someone. He was a very caring person with a big heart who is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Templeton; and mother Patsy Archer; stepfather, Carl Archer; brother, Skippy Templeton.
Bob is survived by special friends, Ruth Martin, Brian Morrison, Doris Housewright, Gene and Judy Archer, Sherry Nelms, Leslie Shaver; and several cousins.

JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Leroy “Lee “Littleton, Johnson City, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Littleton was born in Sullivan County, son of the late Bert and Velva Light Littleton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Rae Hensley Littleton and his sister, Patsy Harris.
He was a graduate of Sullivan West High School and retired from Baxter Pharmaceuticals.
Lee loved and served the Lord. He cared deeply about God’s people and loved fellowship with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Helen Roberts, Irene Mullenix, and Peggy Ball; special aunt, LenMae Hickman to whom he wishes a happy birthday this year; special friends, Roger and Leigh Espinoza and James & Jackie McElyea; and several nieces and nephews.
